The Case For (And Against) The Flickuum Project Expanding To 5,000 Movies

For almost 20 years, I have expanded the amount of allotted Flickuum spots multiple times and for the reasons of me A] Not wanting certain movies to be phased out via a numbers game, B] Wanting a nice well-rounded number of Project movies that can be divisible by a whole number as much as possible, and C] Wanting a nice well-rounded number of Project movies that can eventually total out to something ending in three zeroes, which is why the current amount of allotted Flickuum spots is 4,000. And after having said all of that, are there reasons for me to expand again?

Well yes, with one being that I think it would be cool to have 50 increments of 100 Flickuum movies, representing all 50 states, thus meaning that the allotted total could go up to 5,000. Two, the amount of open “pre-Dream Scenario” Flickuum spots is currently 11 and with the possibility of most assessment/re-assessment roster movies making The Project, that puts quite a few possibly worthy non-roster movies in an unfair position. Three, it can allow for creativity in the evaluation schedule for the duration of The Project. And four, I can delay the inevitable end of The Project a bit longer, because I’m nowhere near mentally prepared for that inevitability.

Of course, there are also the downsides to expanding to 5,000, with one being that will certain family members of mine still be on this planet when The Project finally concludes, especially since my mom is one of the biggest fans of The Project. Two, I’ll be needed by quite a few people as the years go on, so that could put the scheduling of all remaining evaluations to the ultimate test. Three, physical copy obtainment in trying to amass every Flickuum movie could be unfeasible timing-wise. And four, expansion delays the evaluations of both “The Bounce Back” and “In The Heights” even longer. So yes, exactly four reasons for each side in this contemplation of 5,000 movies for The Flickuum Project and it’s a contemplation that is so evenly matched on both sides that I’ll need to sleep on it for at least a night before ultimately making my ruling.

To be continued.
