Flickasbord, Volume 187

**Note: The following content has adult wording. Discretion is advised

I’ve extended my broken vow of one blog entry per week this week, but with so much new Flickasbord content already being amassed since volume 186 was completed two days ago, I much rather commit that content to paper than let it linger for the remainder of this week. Plus, I want to let the latest Nothing But Infusion Report remain on the Nothing But Infusion page just a bit longer.

Let’s begin.

First up, being a dog lover, I gravitate towards movies that are about dogs, although I didn’t care for the movie “Darling Companion”. But other than that movie and “A Dog’s Purpose”, movies about dogs have had a successful track record in making The Project. And with that being said, I’ve decided to add the “Shiloh” franchise to the assessment/re-assessment roster, as I feel that it can have the same impact in The Project as “My Dog Skip” did back in 2008. The time distribution remains ongoing.

Following my two attempts at evaluating “I Feel Pretty”, I thought to myself, “Man, Adrian Martinez (not the baseball player) keeps popping up in movies”, which then led to me looking at his IMDB page to see how many Flickuum movies that he has amassed. And as to what that number is, well it’s nine, with one of those movies being the aforementioned “I Feel Pretty”. However, this paragraph isn’t about that movie. Instead, it’s about his dual role of lead actor and director for the movie “iGilbert”. Yes, the subject matter of the latter movie might not to be my liking, but I want to see how he does in a leading role, especially he’s been a supporting actor in every other movie that I’ve seen him in. Yes, that movie has been added to the roster.

Movies slipping through the cracks has been common during the almost 20-year Flickuum run, with both “My Girl” installments being the latest examples of such movies, prior to them finally becoming roster additions. Now you can add the movie “Monster Party” to that category, as I wanted a Virginia Gardner movie to make up for the failure that was “Little Bitches”. But for some reason, I completely forgot about it until noticing in the “Related Titles” section of IMDB two days ago, thus I took a picture of that movie’s poster with my phone as a reminder to add it to the roster. And of course, no need for me to explain any further, as it has indeed been added to the roster. I wonder which movie through the cracks will emerge next.

Reneging on the one blog entry per week rule isn’t the only thing that I’m reneging on, as pardons and exemptions still linger in my thoughts. However, all of these particular movies that lingered in my thoughts (prior to this entry) each have a case for re-assessment. And as to how you can find out which movies that they are this time, well you can do so via looking at the chart below:

MovieWhy it’s made a case for re-assessment
Just Wright (Pardon)Queen Latifah and Common is a weird pairing and the pun involving the title is a bit corny. However, this movie could outrank “Taxi” and it has Paula Patton.
Step Brothers (Pardon)Andrea Savage is very easy on the eyes.
Summer ’03 (Exemption, Tier 13)If Step Brothers can be re-assessed, then this movie should be as well.
The Boogeyman (Exemption, Tier 12)The creature design is really cool and the ending can be interpreted in a whole different way.
The Worst Person In The World (Pardon)This movie has a weirdness, similar to the re-assessment-pending “Three Thousand Years Of Longing”. Plus, the presence of Renate Reinsve makes it worthy of a second re-assessment.
Blue Bayou (Exemption, Tier 13)This movie can compliment a multitude of Flickuum movies, and it seems like that it can work well in tandem with the movie that’s listed directly above it.
Lyle (Pardon)Michael Che is way too cool to not have a Flickuum movie, thus this one could be one of his two best chances at achieving that feat.
Top Five (Pardon)See one spot above.
Hot Tub Time Machine (Pardon)The homage to 1980s nostalgia makes this movie totally worthy of a third re-assessment.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (Pardon)Since this movie’s predecessor is being re-assessed, it deserves the same exact status.

It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged about an A24 movie, as that company is both hit-and-miss with their movies, as for every “Hot Summer Nights”, there is an “Ex Machina”, thus I have been reluctant to re-explore their expansive internet catalog. But I needed something to put in between the previous paragraph and the next paragraph, thus I scoured that catalog and decided to take a flier on the movie “Men”, because I feel that it can be a pleasant surprise like “Night Swim”. Plus, it has Jessie Buckley in the lead role and she crushed it in “Wicked Little Letters”, so I expect this flier being a wise selection.

And finally, what’s a Flickasbord entry without the mention of 2023 (and newer) movies, as five more such movies have thrown their hats into this very big Flickuum ring. And as to what those five movies are, well they are 1] Christy, which could go down as an Oscar worthy performance for Sydney Sweeney, 2] Keeper, because Tatiana Maslany (based on the trailer) looks easy on the eyes, 3] I Wish You All The Best, because there’s no such thing as too much Alexandra Daddario in The Project, 4] Sentimental Value, because it could be a second (or third) Flickuum movie for Renate Reinsve, and 5] Adulthood, because there is no such thing as too much Kaya Scodelario in The Project.

Well, the amount of “pre-Dream Scenario” Flickuum spots keeps fluctuating as erratically as a Jeopardy! player bouncing between categories/clues in a very disorderly fashion, but “Splitsville” becomes the latest assessed/re-assessed movie to get a 50F designation in Tier 7, and the amount of Flickuum completions has increased to 1,326, thanks to the latest wee hours evaluation doubleheader of “Selma” and “The Street King”. And while assessments/re-assessments won’t heavily be on the docket until Monday morning, that 1,326 will get nine confirmed followers in two-plus days, beginning with “How To Be Single” and ending with “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2”.

Until the next time.
