Following the final seven pardons that I handed out two days ago, the amount of open “pre-Dream Scenario” cap space went barely under 1,000, so the already re-plentiful amount of such open spots is slowly dwindling and will dwindle some more via the contents of this entry. However, not everything that is currently listed as being up for assessment/re-assessment will be guaranteed to make The Project, thus the numbers can and will fluctuate.
Let’s begin.
First up, I actually had three eventual roster additions kicking around as far back as April yet completely forgot to incorporate them into the last Flickasbord entry. But thanks to remembering the fact that I always have an ongoing list of pending Flickasbord content, they make the cut here, with those three movies being “Ghost Team One”, “Galveston” and “Always And Forever”. Now let’s see if any of those three long-forgotten movies can make one of the next upcoming Varsity vs. JV style Flickuum battles.
Next up, something that I always encourage others to do is give me recommendations for The Flickuum Project, as I always manage to have a surplus of open pre-Dream Scenario spots. And of course, with that being said, I had a recommendation made for me a little over three weeks ago, as someone that I know gave me the three choices of “Shazam!”, “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and “365 Days” to choose from. Of course, the first two options have been rooted in The Flickuum rankings since 2023 and 2022, respectively, thus I settled on the third option by default. Now let’s see if that default choice is a worthy recommendation or not.
Being born in the state of Massachusetts, I always gravitate towards movies that are set in that state, whether filmed there or filmed in a location that bears its resemblance in some way. So, given that and my affinity for A24 movies, I’ve decided to add the movie “Janet Planet” to the roster. Plus, given what I’ve seen via that movie’s trailer, I have a feeling that it will succeed unlike a lot of the A24 letdowns that I’ve assessed/re-assessed, following my evaluation of “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On”. Stay tuned.
Staying somewhat on the topic of A24, Mary Elizabeth Winstead had a pair of her movies (via that production company) fail their assessments/re-assessments, with those two being “The Spectacular Now” and “Swiss Army Man”. But of course, those two movies are through no fault of her own, as she’s reliable in putting forth Flickuum worthy movies on a consistent basis. So, with that being said, I’ve decided to add her movie “Smashed” to the roster, as it has the looks of a strong character-driven indie movie. Plus, it will be interesting to see both her and Mackenzie Davis in the same movie together.
Not all actresses of eye candy appeal will hit the double-digit club of Flickuum movies, as some of them make me hard-pressed to find Flickuum worthy movies that they’re in, with the latest example of this being Gage Golightly, whom was a bright spot in that disaster, known as “The Last Summer”. But I checked her filmography not too long after that and noticed that she had a movie with a substantial role, entitled “Exeter”. So, given that it could be an immediate shot for her to get an overall guaranteed Flickuum movie and that movie being a Blumhouse movie, I’ve decided to add it to the roster. Here’s hoping that another eye candy actress can have a movie in a project that’s chalked full of movies that have Nadine Velazquez, Melissa Barrera, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Anna Camp, Minka Kelly, Eiza Gonzalez and/or Megan Fox in them.
Core Four isn’t a term that applies to the “Scream” characters Sam, Tara, Mindy and Chad, as it applies to other movies, such as “Hustlers”, with that movie’s Core Four being Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer and Lili Reinhart, the latter of whom is also in the aforementioned “Galveston”. But this paragraph isn’t about that movie, as it’s instead about her (Lili Reinhart’s) upcoming movie “American Sweatshop”, which A] Gives her number one status on the call sheet, B] Has an underbelly of the Internet aspect just like “Girl House” and C] Also features Daniela Melchior as number two on the call sheet. So, given all three of those things, that movie will be the latest 2023 (and newer) movie for the roster.
Remember when I said there was another 2D-animated dinosaur movie franchise? Well, I was completely wrong about that, as it’s instead one movie, with that one movie being “Dinotopia: Quest For The Ruby Sunstone”. Initially, I thought it was a seven-movie franchise, but it’s instead a standalone movie, so that’s six less spots that will disappear from the pre-Dream Scenario surplus. Furthermore, that movie was planted in my mind as far back as mid/late-September 2019, on the basis of me looking for an Alyssa Milano movie of Flickuum quality, as A] I booted “Little Sister” from The Project in February 2019, and B] Glory Daze was not yet reinstated as a fully guaranteed Flickuum movie. However, I needed more time to look into whether “Dinotopia” was a franchise or not. And of course, I got the answer to that question, but now that movie is considered a potential bonus since she (Alyssa Milano) has four fully guaranteed Flickuum movies (Poison Ivy II: Lily, Hall Pass, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, the aforementioned Glory Daze). But the 2005 movie could make it five or six, depending on how “Pathology” does in its re-assessment. Stay tuned.
Megan Fox has been a force during the month of August, as she has amassed A] A successful movie via assessment in “Subservience”, B] A successful movie via re-assessment in “Jennifer’s Body” and C] The 1,305th enshrined Flickuum movie in “Transformers”. And she’ll continue to be a force in the assessment/re-assessment circuit with eight additional movies that are up for assessment/re-assessment. Or should I say nine, as her movie “Rogue” jumped out at me when I was surfing the movies section of iTunes nearly two weeks ago. Yes, I don’t think she’ll struggle at all in joining Nadine Velazquez, Melissa Barrera, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Anna Camp and Minka Kelly in The Flickuum Double-Digits Club.
And finally, the fact that the DVD/Blu-ray combo of “The Iron Claw” arrived to me exactly a week ago and the memory of me assessing the Matthew McConaughey movie “Gold” right after “Girl House” caused me to think that the Zac Efron movie also named “Gold” was the one that I was evaluating when I haven’t even seen that movie. But I will sometime during this lengthy selection process, as the fact that I got both “Gold” movies mixed up with one another makes me want to assess it. Now let’s see if I strike that element with the Efron movie I like did with what will be evaluation number 1,315.
Well, as of Monday, I have only done a grand total of four assessments/re-assessments, with “The Black Phone” and “Igby Goes Down” both failing their re-assessments. However, the other half of those four movies are a pair of movies that are physical copy pending in “Sketch” and “Summer Of 69”, the latter of which will be called upon to be a Project jump-starter. And given the expectations for what will be assessed between now and Volume 182, I have a feeling that eight to ten movies will follow in the footsteps of “Open Road”, in terms of movies that will get 50F designations in Tier 7.
Until the next time.
