My Top 10 A24 Movies: First Edition

Two days ago, I achieved another Flickuum feat, as I evaluated “Lady Bird” for my 10th evaluation of an A24 movie, thus marking the first edition of my top 10 movies distributed by that production company. Of course, this entry is just the tip of that iceberg, as more movies from that catalog will eventually make their way into my rankings. But since I finally made the minimum amount of 10 completed Flickuum evaluations for A24 movies, well I decided to write this entry, so that you can see those rankings via the numbered list below. And of course, once you’re done seeing those rankings, you can see my rationale for why number one is number one and why the aforementioned “Lady Bird” barely edged out another A24 movie in my rankings.

So, without any more ado, here is the first edition of my top 10 A24 movies:

  1. Uncut Gems
  2. First Cow
  3. Lady Bird
  4. Death Of A Unicorn
  5. Moonlight
  6. Life After Beth
  7. Room
  8. The Exception
  9. Marcel The Shell With Shoes On
  10. Red Rocket

Well, there it is as promised. It was a methodical path in finally putting this first edition together, as A] I didn’t get on the ground floor level (2013) of A24,B] It took me a little while to appreciate the vibe that (most of) their movies (that I’ve seen) give off, and C] It’s almost impossible to a do a deep dive into that catalog, especially when there are so many other assignments on my docket. Plus, given the methodically chronic approach that’s been (and currently being) applied to The Flickuum Project as a whole, it took me almost eight and a half years to compile this top 10, and it’s a top 10 that didn’t become a reality I studied their catalog more closely in early 2025.

Alright, so now my rationale with two things about this particular top 10, with the first being that I have “Lady Bird” barely edging out “Death Of A Unicorn”, due to the dynamic between the characters of Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf resonating with me on a human level and in a movie that is a much more grounded in reality, compared to what the tandem of Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega put forth in 2025. And as for the second thing, well “Uncut Gems” is a slickly-made movie throughout and these other nine ranked A24 movies just don’t execute the way that the Adam Sandler-led movie does, thus making it number one of this first edition.

Of course, I’m far from done evaluating A24 movies, as I have both “Lean On Pete” and “American Honey” fully guaranteed yet not in the evaluation pool, while “The Iron Claw” could become fully guaranteed as early as this coming June 12. And should Zac Efron’s career-defining performance get the next fully guaranteed Flickuum spot, along with which shopping service that I want to use to acquire those two other movies, well those three movies could be the next three A24 movies to be evaluated, thus three more editions of top 10 A24 movies in the foreseeable future. And given the superlative that I just gave “The Iron Claw”, well there could be a new number one for A24 movies in my rankings much sooner than expected, especially since I also feel that “The Legend Of Ochi” and “A Most Violent Year” will both beat “Uncut Gems” in my rankings.

Yes, there was a lot to unpack in this entry, but that’s what happens when one methodically becomes a follower of the A24 catalog like I have. And it’s such a deep catalog that it’s easy for me to forget how many of their movies that I have actually seen thus far.

Well, that does it for this special (and unique) A24-themed blog entry. And since it was such a unique blog entry, I want to give you readers a chance to comment on the overall phenomenon that is A24, which includes the content that we just covered.

Thank you as always and keep Art Infliction progressing!
