Ever since the publishing of A Baker’s Dozen, Plus A ‘Blind-Siding’, progress in filling out/determining foreseeably open Catch-22 Hundred spots has been slow, as only three movies (Horizon Line, Blue Beetle, Strays) clinched overall guaranteed spots. And as to why progress has been slow, well that’s because there’s a standings style battle, in which the top 11 (or 12) movies in Tier 12 will all get foreseeably open Catch-22 Hundred spots reserved for them. And given that only five of the 29 movies in that tier are deemed as movies that are worthy to get reserved spots, progress won’t be made until seven more worthy movies are added to that tier.
Yes, there is a lot to unpack here, so let’s get right to it, starting with the five worthy Tier 12 movies via the chart below:
Movie | Current Tier 12 Record | How it can clinch in Tier 12 |
Emily The Criminal | 28-0 | It can clinch with a 29th win or an 0-7 record against Slumberland and the seven Tier 9 movies not named Mending The Line. |
White Men Can’t Jump ‘23 | 27-1 | It can clinch with a 28th win or an 0-7 record against Slumberland and the seven Tier 9 movies not named Mending The Line. |
The Photograph | 26-2 | It can clinch with a 27th win or an 0-7 record against Slumberland and the seven Tier 9 movies not named Mending The Line. |
North Hollywood | 25-3 | It can clinch with a 26th win or an 0-7 record against Slumberland and the seven Tier 9 movies not named Mending The Line. |
The Last Of The Mohicans | 24-4 | It can clinch with a 25th win, finishing with a 1-6 record against Slumberland and the seven Tier 9 movies not named Mending The Line, having Mending The Line fail its assessment, having Carmen fail its assessment or having The Creator fail its assessment. |
As you all can see, The Last Of The Mohicans has little margin for error going up against Mending The Line, Slumberland, the six Tier 9 movies not named Mending The Line and the 14 new/fairly new 2023 movies that have yet to be assessed. But it won’t be completely eliminated from foreseeable contention if any of the 20 projected reserved movies fail their assessment(s) or if 11 of those 20 movies bend the knee to The Frandemic. But given that all of those movies are more than likely to connect like Blue Blue, Strays and The Photograph did, then the most likely path for The Last Of The Mohicans in being among one of the 2,122 is via The Creator failing its assessment.
804 minutes. That’s how long that this eight-assessment marathon will be and that will include multiple intermissions. It’s a marathon that will A] Have Jenna Ortega in a non-horror movie, B] Feature an Eiza Gonzalez movie up for assessment in almost a year, C] Make up for Drive-Away Dolls bending the knee to The Frandemic, D] Continue the rising stock of Florence Pugh, E] Allow for Anna Akana to have another movie of hers assessed, F] Give Aubrey Plaza redemption from the failure that was Black Bear, G] Present a live-action remake of a movie that will totally exceed the cartoon version of it and H] Feature something led by the dynamic Melissa Barrera. So, given all those positives, I’m confident that those eight movies will be a perfect 8-for-8 in making the Project.
Time to hit the ground running!
