For nearly three months, I’ve had to frantically wait to find out if certain movies that I wanted to see theatrically would get released on their intended USA wide release dates, as movies such as White Bird kowtowed to the SAG-AFTRA Strike to the point of it still not having a newly announced USA wide release date. But that was before all my Friday checking (dating back to August 18, 2023) began, as I made predictions the week before then about which of the then-16 upcoming movies would suffer the same fate. And of course, with all of that being said, eight of those then-16 upcoming movies made their intended USA wide release dates, which had me thrilled, especially as six of those eight movies passed their assessments with flying colors.
But of course, most of the first paragraph is just a rehash of previous blog entries, as this blog entry is about something that I’m completely thrilled to blog about, which is that I found out that that damn Strike ended two days ago. So, because of that, the other upcoming movies (minus The Hunger Games prequel) that I want to see theatrically this calendar year won’t get their USA wide release dates pushed back. And yes, that includes both The Marvels, which is next on my theatrical tour, and an upcoming movie (Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom) that will very likely to clinch a Top 18 spot in Tier 12. And of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg because in addition, a slew of movies (some that can finally begin filming) slated for 2024 and beyond will all emerge as worthy contenders for some of the final 60 Catch-22 Hundred spots. And of course, with that being said, this slew of movies will include the following:
- A Simple Favor 2
- Despicable Me 4
- Garfield
- Argyle
- Elio
- Inside Out 2
- M3GAN 2.0
- The Beekeeper
- Bob Marley: One Love
- Juror #2
- Drive-Away Dolls
- Paddington 3
- Deadpool 3
- Ballerina
Of course, the list above is barely scratching the surface, but it does give us a bit of an idea of how much excitement that we’ll be in store for now that that damn Strike is over. And knowing what I know right now, the pursuit for the final 60 Catch-22 Hundred spots will most likely start off in torrid fashion.
