I always seem to be a day early in rounding out selection protocols within the selection protocol, as I have already picked the first 25 movies for the Eastern Bluebird 53. But I’m not surprised that I was able to pick them so quickly, as I have been thinking about this as far back as this most January, thus these picks were made within the right frame of mind. So, with all of that being said, you can find out which 25 were selected via the chart below:
Movie | How it got an overall guaranteed Flickuum spot |
Bed Rest | This movie is neck-and-neck with All The World Is Sleeping, as both movies are Melissa Barrera movies. |
Monkey Man | Rock ‘em sock ‘em action movies are perfect in jump-starting The Project, and this movie has that type of potential. |
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F | Eddie Murphy has had the good, the bad and the meh for R-Rated movies since 1999, with the good being for Life, the bad being for You People and the meh being for Dolemite Is My Name. This is his fourth R-Rated movie since that year and it tilts completely favorable for him. |
The Beekeeper | Jason Statham bounces back big time with this movie after a dismal 2023. And not only does he bounce back big time with this movie because in addition, it could go down as his second best Flickuum movie, behind Death Race. |
The Fall Guy | This movie is perfect in leading an evaluation line-up. |
Civil War | Certain movies give off the vibe as perfect for evaluating on a Saturday afternoon. This is one of those movies. |
Bob Marley: One Love | It’s rare that movies can both be resonating and relaxing yet this movie manages to do just that. |
The Iron Claw | Cillian Murphy’s Best Actor award was completely well-deserved, but The Oscars completely snubbed Zac Efron, because I prefer this movie over Oppenheimer and Efron’s performance warranted the nomination. |
Sling Blade | Billy Bob Thornton’s ability to transform into Karl makes him impressive in this movie through and through. |
Love Lies Bleeding | The tone that a movie gives off via its trailer is often times different than the movie itself. Fortunately, this movie doesn’t fall into that trap, thus it’s as good as advertised. |
Panic Room | This movie was almost forgotten about after its 2010 assessment. But thanks in part to Kristen Stewart, it garnered a re-assessment and was much more enjoyable the second time around. |
Female Fight Squad | This movie has both a bit of John Wick in it and a trio of eye candy actresses in Amy Johnston, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez and Levy Tran. Plus, it gets better as it goes on. |
In The Heat Of The Night | The Jackal and Sneakers were the late Sidney Poitier’s prior opportunities at being a part of Flickuum lore. This movie erases those failures. |
IF | This movie is a perfectly made mash-up of The Sixth Sense, Inside Out, Little Monsters ’89 and Coraline, due to its unforgettable characters and sweet-natured storyline. |
Lisa Frankenstein | This movie is a cross between Heathers and Edward Scissorhands, captures the 1980s aesthetic perfectly and has Liza Soberano conjuring up images of a 1980s version of Kelly Kapowski. |
Mr. Roosevelt | Daniella Pineda puts this movie over the top, and it’s good that Nick Thune gets another Flickuum movie after playing the human version of a certain body part in Bad Johnson. |
Abstraction | Despite this movie a slightly unfinished ending, it’s solid enough to warrant a spot in The Project. |
Dirty 30 | This movie could find itself one spot behind Go Back To China when The Project is all said and done, as both movies are Anna Akana movies. |
Déjà Vu | This movie is the better of Denzel Washington’s two 2006 movies. |
Big Time Adolescence | Thanks to this movie, Emily Arlook won’t be restricted to just an uncredited in Valentine’s Day for The Project. |
Jimi: All Is By My Side | Andre Benjamin’s portrayal of the late Jimi Hendrix has “nowhere but The Flickuum” quality about it. |
Firebrand | Thanks to both being assessed one day before Husband For Hire was evaluated, and re-assessed three days before Carmen was evaluated, this movie’s stock has risen. |
Forbidden Planet | This movie will outrank Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers. |
Leave No Trace | No movie benefits from Project expansion more than this one, as it was squeezed between October 7, 2022 and June 22, 2023. But thanks to the “grow on” effect and a successful re-assessment, it will finally graduate to Tier 5. |
Breaking | This movie found itself in the weird spots of being assessed three days after Dumbo ’19, and being re-assessed three days after Carmen. However, it has line-up versatility, thus it’s a matter of which movie(s) that it can work with come evaluation time. |
Well, the beginning of the third fifth of selecting movies for Tier 5 is underway after some very arduous wait times. But the arduousness isn’t over yet, as 28 other movies must round out the Eastern Bluebird 53 before the process of graduation to Tier 5 begins.
Tune in tomorrow to find out which 22 movies will join the 25 in the chart above.
