Minimum 144, Maximum 100!: Part One

Expansion to 2,300 claimed its first beneficiary yesterday, as the movie “The Iron Claw” became the first new/fairly new movie (post-expansion) to pretty much lockdown an overall guaranteed Flickuum spot. And as to why I pretty much, well the 20th Tier 12 spot still has to be filled and the field of movies that will be competing for it has four vacant spots remaining. However, those four spots seem to be all but certain, as A] Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget will carry on in the success of the Aardman legacy, B] Exposed presents a pre-Ballerina movie that features Ana de Armas, C] True Memoirs Of An International Assassin could go down as Zulay Henao’s best Project movie and D] Either All’s Faire In Love or Clarity is favored to be the 11th Project movie for Nadine Velazquez. Plus, one of those Point D movies could be one of the movies that needs a new/fairly new movie to fail its assessment, should both All’s Faire In Love and Clarity pass their assessments.

Yes, I don’t want to undermine the integrity of assessing new/fairly new movies, but they’re the ones that control their own destinies in making The Flickuum Project, so something will have to be a complete failure like Asteroid City was last year. Cue The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, Jules and Landscape With Invisible Hand.

Of course, the rest of the pre-2023 and pre-2024 movies that are up for assessment/re-assessment don’t inspire much confidence, as A] The voice-dubbing in Space Cowboys could cause it to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, B] The trailer for the 2008 movie “Harold” looked horrid, C] I don’t know if I’ll be able to tolerate Whitney Cummings in a full-length movie, D] The whole cat mishap in Inside Llewyn troubles me, E] The open-ended ending of RocknRolla makes it failure on re-assessment, F] Ode To Joy could be a subpar knock-off of Dan In Real Life and G] I’m only assessing Thelma & Louise, on the basis of me referencing it in my review of “Diary Of A Mad Black Woman”. So yeah, I guess Nadine Velazquez has a chance to have as many Flickuum movies as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.

Tune in two days from now to five more movies that I highly anticipate for 2024.
