Paring down the roster of assessments/re-assessments remains to be a challenge because there are still so many movies that could be just too good to pass up for The Project. Let’s begin.
First up, seeing the trailers for both “Fat Camp” and “The Subject” have me convinced that another Latina actress of eye candy appeal needs to be in the project that Babe The Pig built. And as to who that actress is, well it’s Anabelle Acosta, who was criminally squandered in “Kill Chain”. But thank goodness that her filmography presented those other two movies. Now it’s a question of either or both movies will pass assessment. Stay tuned.
Back in volume 92 of Flickasbord, I mentioned having 13 remaining theatrical trips for 2024, thus why I decided to make “A Complete Unknown” my first one of 2025. However, I was off by eleven on that total, as A) I forgot to include “My Old Ass” in the tour and B) I had to re-calculate everything else from this coming Monday through the end of this calendar year. So, with both those points being said, it’s going to be 24 before the Bob Dylan biopic.
When it comes to paring down movies for The Flickuum Project, I want every theatrical release from a week ago yesterday to December 5, 2025 to be a serious contender instead of being mere filler. So, with that being said, “Kraven The Hunter” will be optioned as a movie that will vie for one of the last ever Flickuum spots, a feat that only has “Fly Me To The Moon” and “Trap” thus far.
During my assessment of “A Perfect Pairing”, I found Victoria Justice’s attempts of being funny to be cringe, thus why I banned it from Project consideration. But after realizing her attempts are a little less cringy than Paul Rudd’s in the enshrined Flickuum movie “I Love You, Man”, I have decided to pardon it for a re-assessment.
Expedited re-assessments saved “The Matrix”, “The Princess Bride” and “Pirates Of The Great Salt”, as two of those three movies are enshrined Flickuum movies, while the third will graduate to Tier 5 tomorrow. So, with that being said, I’m going to do the same for “She Is Love”, as A) Haley Bennett needs something much more positive after portrayal of Carolyn Bryant in the movie “Till”, and B) There is a scene towards the end of that movie, which has a similarity to a scene in “Café Society” a.k.a. the 800th enshrined Flickuum movie. Looks like “Cruella” and “Boundaries” will have a movie join them in the standings style battle.
And finally, the Camila Mendes movie “Upgraded” has straggled in my mind a lot recently, as A) Mendes’ occasional cringy dialogue delivery is similar to Victoria Justice’s in “A Perfect Pairing”, B) The former of those two movies could be neck-and-neck with another of her movies in “Do Revenge” and C) It worked better as an assessment before the assessments of “I Care A Lot” and “Bed Rest” than as a re-assessment before the re-assessments of “Sleepover” and “2 Days In The Valley”. So, given all of that, I have decided to pardon that movie for a re-assessment as well.
Well, I have a lot of paring down to do between now and New Year’s Day 2026 to the point that there is a possibility that the page, entitled “The 99ers”, could have a different name come early 2026. But I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it, because I’m still going to operate under the mindset of not every pending assessment/re-assessment being guaranteed of a tentative Flickuum spot.
Now it’s time to assess “Not Forgotten”.
