Futility extends to five, as “The Gunman” was worse in its re-assessment and didn’t have the vibe that I was looking for, thus it has gone back to the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page. Yes, I know that streaks of futility are going to happen when assessing/re-assessing movies, but the timing for that to happen is the absolute worst, as I’m almost done rounding out the minimum of 131 movies in the 2,101 through 2,301 selection protocol. Perhaps I should a better choice for the next assessment/re-assessment.
Things tend to come in threes via various scenarios, such as the Dallas Cowboys needing greatness at quarterback, wide receiver and running back all at the same exact time to win championships (three) during the 1990s. And of course, with that being said, the same can be said in an apples-to-oranges scenario, as three movies with quirky DVD cover art all seem to belong with each other in The Flickuum Project. And as to what those three movies are, well they are “Cooties”, “Repo! The Genetic Opera” and “Super”, the latter of which has just been pardoned from the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page. Yes, that movie will most likely join the other two quirky DVD cover art movies in The Project yet I want to re-assess it to see if certain annoyances about it can be overcome. Stay tuned.
With “Cruella” possibly getting into Tier 5, the possibility of “The House Bunny” moving to Tier 6 is a very good one. However, the aforementioned “Cruella” is only half that battle, as that move is also predicated on an Anna Faris movie making the 2,101 through 2,301 selection protocol. And of course, with that being said, I think I found that movie via the hidden gem “Southern Belles”. Besides, it’d be cool to have a different Anna Faris movie battle movies that have Nadine Velazquez, Melissa Barrera and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen since the ex-wife of Chris Pratt has had movies of hers share history with “The Bounce Back”, “Carmen” and the Saved By The Bell episode “The Prom”, respectively.
And finally, I’ve mapped out my last 26 theatrical outings for 2024, starting Wednesday with “Fly Me To The Moon”. But that number could be 27, depending on when “Juror #2” comes out theatrically. And of course, with that being said, there’s a possibility that it could come out during the Fall months (September through November) of 2024. So, given that possibility, September’s release schedule (per firstshowing.net) gives Clint Eastwood’s upcoming directorial effort a brutal stretch of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, “The Killer’s Game”, “Speak No Evil”, “Wolfs”, “Transformers One”, “The Wild Robot” and “My Old Ass” over a four-week period. And the brutality doesn’t end there, as October has stacked the deck with “Joker: Folie A Deux”, “White Bird”, “Terrifier 3”, “Smile 2”, “Venom: The Last Dance” and “Your Monster” over its four-week period, thus there’s no path to certain success for the legendary actor’s upcoming effort. Especially when Melissa Barrera will be the biggest draw that month. So, that leaves November 1 and November 8 for ideal Fall dates, as those days don’t have any major competition, and December 6 as a prime twelfth month release date since none of the movies coming out that day are strong box office contenders. So, given that and Clint Eastwood releasing movies (Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, The Mule) on a Friday in December before, I’m going to predict that his newest movie will come out on the latter of those three non-September and non-October dates that I alluded to. Stay tuned.
Well, it’s time to stop overthinking at what will be assessed/re-assessed next because that will just cause me to drag mentally. And given how much that I pride myself on getting things done in a timely fashion, this inching along will just cause major disarray to the other goals that I have set for myself this year, thus it’s time to snap out of this latest slump.
