Flickasbord, Volume 85

Narrowing down the assessment/re-assessment roster has been an exercise in tedious futility since Saturday, as only three such movies have been assessed/re-assessed and they are anything but Flickuum quality. Let’s begin.

First up, I was about to re-assess “Slumberland” shortly after this entry was written. But after reading how nonsensical that the plot was, along with remembering how bored that I was during its assessment, I’ve decided to not re-assess it, therefore it has joined the recently unsuccessful “Flamin’ Hot” on the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page.

The cancellation of “Slumberland”, along with A) What I mentioned about “Flamin’ Hot” and B) The trio of “Air America”, “8MM” and “Toxin” all on the verge of failing has lightened the assessment/re-assessment logjam a bit, right? Well, wrong because after realizing that “Mo’ Money” can actually co-exist with “Major Payne”, as well as it being perfect in tandem with “Money Train”, I’ve decided to pardon the 1992 movie to Tier 7 as the 127th movie in the 2,101 through 2,301 selection protocol.

And finally, movies manage to get themselves on the assessment/re-assessment roster, with movies (Henry & June) that have the vibe of being “taboo guilty pleasures” as an example of that. And of course, with that example being said, another such movie gets itself on the roster, with it being Eva Green’s credited debut “The Dreamers”. Yes, Eva Green has grown on me after I found her to be miscast in “Casino Royale”, as A) I found her to be one of the best components of “300: Rise Of An Empire”, and B) She has beaten both Nadine Velazquez (Husband For Hire) and Melissa Barrera (Carmen) head-to-head via “Dumbo”, thus putting her on the same level as them and Anna Camp. Looks like Eva Green does need a movie of hers to compete March Madness style, because that would add another layer of intrigue in filling out fully guaranteed Flickuum spots.

Well, I have a little over 100 (at least) movies to scout between now and New Year’s Day 2026 yet haven’t had a successful assessment/re-assessment since “Mars Needs Moms”. But that’s going to change after the 07-15-24 Nog Report posts because I’m very optimistic about what I have to work with via my various queues.

Until the next time.
