I know that I vowed no more pardons from the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page, but after feeling that “Love Spreads” needs a re-assessment on the basis of “I Care A Lot” being in The Flickuum Project, I decided to pardon the former of the two movies from that page. Plus, it’s unknown when I’ll evaluate another Eiza Gonzalez movie next, as I put her on the same level as both Nadine Velazquez and Melissa Barrera.
Sometime after writing volume 77, I noticed one of my roommates surfing the Hulu app, followed by her asking me if I ever saw the Nicolas Cage movie “8MM”, to which I answered, “No, I haven’t”. This was then followed by her telling me that I might like that movie, thus I have decided to add it to my roster of assessments/re-assessments since there’s a lot of space for the 189 available spots in the 2,101 through 2,301 selection protocol.
Antonio Banderas has played memorable characters in multiple franchises, such as Puss In Boots in the second through fourth “Shrek” installments, that same character in two “Shrek” spin-off movies and El Mariachi in the second and third installments of the “El Mariachi” franchise. However, I haven’t seen either of his “Zorro” movies, which seemed like a role that he was born to play. So, given that that character is just as memorable, I have decided to add both Banderas “Zorro” movies to the roster.
During the year 1998, Anthony Hopkins appeared in not one, but two movies, with one of them being “The Mask Of Zorro”. And as for the other movie that he appeared in that year, well it was “Meet Joe Black”, which one of my uncles mentioned once. And given how his mentioning of that movie never faded out of my memory bank, along with it having Claire Forlani, I have decided to add that movie to the roster as well.
In another item pertaining to Antonio Banderas, my favorite movie of his is “Desperado”, hands down. And not only is it my favorite movie of his because in addition, it’s currently my fifth favorite 1995 movie to the point that “Assassins” was/is a 1995 post-Desperado letdown. And of course, with that being said, “Never Talk To Strangers” was another movie of his that came out after my favorite of his during that year, thus I have added it to the Movies That Mega Tat Refuses To See page, on the basis of it potentially worse than the aforementioned “Assassins”.
A movie that I attempted to assess back in 2012 was “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”, only for me to completely lose interest in finishing it after coming back from work (my now former day job) on the day that I attempted to assess it. But given that I do not want any unfinished movie on my conscience, I have decided to do a full-on assessment of that movie and right I assess I assess its predecessor “Journey To The Center Of The Earth”, because I like watching first installments before second installments. So, given those rules, both movies will also join the roster.
The suppressive pomposity of film festivals has been a pain in the ass, as I still await the United States wide release date of “Your Monster”, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival back in January. But luckily, I won’t have to be kept in the dark about “My Old Ass”, which is Aubrey Plaza’s latest movie. And given that she has amassed 13 Flickuum movies, the expectations of this movie passing its assessment are already high. Plus, since it’s United States wide release date is going to be this coming September 13, it’s a safe bet that that movie will be added to the September leg of my 2024 theatrical tour.
And finally, a movie that I was unsure of being accessible to assess drops into one of my local theaters during the span of July 8 through July 11 and it’s a movie that gave off John Wick/Monkey Man vibes. And as to what that movie is, well it’s “Kill”, which I saw the trailer for when I went to go see “Boy Kills World”. And given how the trailer of that movie (Kill) hit me like a ton of bricks, I have decided to add it to my 2024 theatrical tour.
Well, there has been no further progress in adding to the 2,101 through 2,301 selection protocol, as both “The Scent Of Rain & Lightening” and “Slap Shot” were complete disappointments to me. But I have 20 (prior to this entry) movies accessible to me between now and Wednesday night, and there’s a chance that quite a few of them will land. And should that be the case, then advancement to Tier 5 could eventually begin much sooner than expected.
Until the next time.
