Flickasbord, Volume 69

I’m well ahead of where I want to be with my current Flickuum goal, therefore I have found time to write this latest Flickasbord volume. Let’s begin.

First up, I have vowed that there won’t be any more pardons from the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page. And there won’t any more be after today, as I decided to pardon “Mrs. Brown” to give it a second re-assessment, due to that movie giving Dame Judi Dench a well-deserved Oscar nomination. Besides, if other movies with historical inaccuracies can be in The Project, then the 1997 movie does indeed deserve that second re-assessment.

During my evaluation of the 1983 version of “Valley Girl”, I noticed that it had both vibes and at least one locale (a mall) that reminded of “Fast Times At Ridgemont High”. And of course, with all of that being said, those things that I noticed made me realize that if the former of the two movies can be in The Project, then the latter of the two should be in it as well, thus I decided to make it the 97th movie to be in the 2,101 through 2,200 selection protocol.

And finally, my knack for having trailers of new movies come my way via theatrical trips (The Garfield Movie this time around) shone through yet again, as I noticed another uplifting human and animal movie, with it being the movie “My Penguin Friend”. And as to what I thought of it via the trailer, well A) I love penguins and B) It reminded me of the fantastic “Arthur The King”, thus I decided to add it to my 2024 theatrical tour.

Well, between Volume 68 and now, I’ve went from 1,013 completed Flickuum evaluations to 1,032 completed Flickuum evaluations in a span of four-plus days, which is on par for where I want to be heading into this coming Monday. And while I want to be at the consistent average of exactly two evaluations per day from this coming Monday through this coming Independence Day, I might be over 1,040 when I wake up on the first day of Week 311 of the current Art Infliction era.

Stay tuned.
