Pre-2023 movies seem to keep having an obsession with underachieving, which is I why I have to keep writing entries like this. And quite honestly, I am tired of these types of movies constantly eating into my J.Lo-heavy assessment/re-assessment marathon.
Let’s begin.
First up, let’s begin with the latest movie to have this underachieving obsession, as I re-assessed “The Green Knight” for the fifth time since late-July 2024 and like all those previous times, it was a completely disjointed viewing experience. So, with that being said, the operative word here is “disjointed”, as there were components that I thought were Flickuum-worthy yet they still might not be enough for the 2021 movie to be among the 6,000, thus it has Quite A Climb.
This will be the last time that I pardon and/or exempt any movie that isn’t on the reserved for potential pardon and/or exemption page, as I found two movies with aspects that are totally deserving of Flickuum lore. And as to what those two movies are, well they are 1] Bulletproof, simply because the dog that Moses (Adam Sandler) takes a liking to eventually becomes his pet at the end of the movie, while the second is “Southern Belles”, because that could be Laura Breckenridge’s best (and possibly only) shot at Flickuum lore. But like I said, that’s real deal it for pardons and/or exemptions that are not on the reserved page. Now let’s see if those two movies can reward my faith.
And finally, I always write a minimum of three new additions to the assessment/re-assessment roster in every Flickasbord entry, and have done so via the minimum amount (three) of separate paragraphs in all of those entries. However, I am finding myself pressed for time more and more these days, thus I will include the new additions (five this time) all in this paragraph and will do so using the chart below format:
| Movie | Why it be assessed |
| Bad Apples | This movie is a somewhat tamer version of “Bad Teacher” and it has the ever-reliable Saoirse Ronan as the lead. |
| Pendulum | This movie (distributed by Vertical) will be released on the first day of 2027. And given that’s the company that distributed both the second-best movie of 2024 (Your Monster), and the under-rated 2024 gem “The Order”, well then this movie will have high expectations this coming January. |
| Rosemary’s Baby | The roommate of mine, whom has recommended me so many movies to me, emphasized this one more than once, so I might as well heed that emphasis. |
| Women Is Losers | There isn’t as much Chrissie Fit in The Project as I thought there was, so this movie has been added to increase her Flickuum count. |
| River | This is the January 15, 2027 Blumhouse that Cody Leach was probably alluding to in his review of “Other Mommy”, and it’s stock just went up via the presence of Jessica Rothe. |
Well, that’s the latest batch of roster additions and like most of the movies that are on there, the expectations for success are sky-high. And given that there is momentum with the successful assessment of “Other Mommy”, as well as “Reservoir Dogs” making the cut on the fourth try, I feel like I won’t have to deal with any movies having this obsession with underachieving any time soon, although “The Cell” will test that theory.
Until the next time.
