Just like last Saturday, I’ve decided to write this Flickasbord entry in between sessions of an evaluation, as I’m pretty confident about my speed at completing the ones that I have foreseeably scheduled for myself and in the timeframe that I have in mind. So, with that being said, I have to keep my foot on the pedal, while both figuring out which five movies will follow “A Walk In The Woods” and when to schedule their evaluations.
Let’s begin.
First up, I found out in early-August that the 2025 movie “The Amateur” is a remake of a 1982 movie of the same name and featured the late Christopher Plummer. However, it kept slipping through the cracks until now, thus making that movie the first building block of this entry. Plus, I’m a fan of his work and I want to see how both the original and remake differ from one another.
Next up, Netflix sure has a way of presenting movies that jump out at me, as “A House Of Dynamite” made the cut in volume 200 and that theme resurfaces in this entry via the movie “The Twits”, a computer-animated movie that has an animation style similar to “Wendell & Wild”. Yes, I did see a pair of negative reviews about the former on IMDB, but that hasn’t stopped me from assessing other movies before and that won’t stop me from assessing the aforementioned former, thus it has made the roster.
Aside from the “Rush Hour” trilogy/franchise, it’s rare that live-action kung fu action comedy movies make/get scouted for The Flickuum Project. But thanks to yet another movie that has slipped through the cracks, and longer than most since Land Of Infusion era stat-tracking began a little over five years ago, that rarity finds its way on the roster, in the form of “The Paper Tigers”. Yes, I noticed it on iTunes all the way back in 2021 yet for some unknown reason, it kept slipping through those aforementioned cracks. But luckily, it somehow managed to have staying power in mind, thus I was able to amass it as a piece of content for this entry a little over an hour before this particular writing process began. Now let’s see if the 2020 movie can roar its way into a group that was first started by “Wildcats” and last extended by “The Dark Tower”.
I know, I did say no more pardons from the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page, but four particular movies made strong cases about why they should each be on the assessment/re-assessment roster. And as to what those four particular movies are, well they are 1] Piranha, due to it paving the way for both “Piranha 3D” and “Piranha 3DD”, 2] Piranha II: The Spawning, due to it helping its predecessor having a complete feel, 3] Rob The Mob, due to Jeremy Allen White’s Flickuum stock rising right now, and 4] Jacknife, due to the rarity of Robert De Niro and Ed Harris working together. Alright, now the pardons are totally out of system.
And finally, I saw news of Chris Hemsworth’s upcoming movie “Crime 101” pop up on IMDB two days ago yet wasn’t interested in giving it Flickuum consideration. But after seeing the trailer of it yesterday, it has the look of an awesome heist movie. Furthermore, Halle Berry looks as gorgeous as ever in that trailer and another hot actress in Monica Barbaro is also among the cast, thus it has been added to the roster. Damn, my February is going to be crazy with trying to figure out theatrical tour dates with that movie, “GOAT” and “Wuthering Heights”.
Well, the surplus of 523 open “pre-Dream Scenario” spots has fluctuated, with the now confirmed failure of “Blue Collar” unofficially turning that number into 524 yesterday morning, followed by these eight roster additions and the somewhat impromptu assessment of “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” officially turning the latter number into 515. Of course, it remains to be seen what movie will be assessed/re-assessed next, as both the current and foreseeable goal is two more hours of “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets” and 15 more evaluations after that, so that the three-quarter mark of the 14th increment of 100 Flickuum evaluations can be reached on my terms. And as to when I expect for that to happen, well either the night of this coming November 3 or the wee hours of this coming November 4.
Until the next time.
