It’s been nearly 22 months since the very first Flickasbord entry was put into the Art Infliction Content Universe and now we’re at volume 200. My goodness, time flies by when one constantly creates content. And given that this is a milestone entry, I need to have a large quantity of items, as a minimum of three items does a complete disservice.
Time to bring it.
First up, three of Dustin Hoffman’s most famous movies that I either heard mentioned or read about yet never saw, should have been included in my previous mentions of big-name movies that I have never seen before. And as to what those three movies were, well they were “Death Of A Salesman”, “The Graduate” and “Marathon Man”, all of which were deemed classics by one of my roommates. Of course, there’s now no need to wonder if they’ll ever be assessed for The Project, as they all have been added to the very loaded assessment/re-assessment roster.
I did say that there would be no more pardons, but how can I have “Mallrats” permanently banned from The Project? I mean I like Claire Forlani in that movie, there’s no such thing as many movies where Ben Affleck is an antagonist and I feel that Kevin Smith deserves to have more than one of his movies, which he was a director, in The Flickuum Project. Furthermore, how can I also have “Point Break” permanently banned from The Project, especially with those cool bank robber masks? So yeah, those two movies will be pardoned for second re-assessments and they will both be the last ever pardons for The Project.
One of the more impressive character actors is Edi Gateghi, who has the versatility to both play a vicious gang member in “Death Sentence”, followed by playing a very intellectual protagonist in “Superman”. Yes, his versatility needs to get way more run in The Project, thus I have added his movies “Caged” and “Aporia” to the roster. Now let’s see if he can amass more than two Flickuum movies.
Dynamite might not just be a Michael Jai White movie (Black Dynamite) in The Project, as another movie that I noticed on Idris Elba’s IMDB page was “A House Of Dynamite”, in which he plays the President of the United States. And given that he struck gold three months ago with “Heads Of State”, I have added the upcoming simultaneous theatrical-streaming release to the roster. Now let’s see if The Project will have two sets of “Dynamite” or not.
The resurgent Flickuum stock of Jennifer Lopez continues to rise, as one day after adding “El Cantante” to the roster, I decided to take fliers on both “Second Act” and “The Back-Up Plan”, due to them potentially being entertaining romcoms. Of course, both movies constantly slipped through the cracks for me, but given that the former came out a year before “Hustlers” a.k.a. evaluation 1,269 and the latter coming out two years before “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” a.k.a. evaluation 1,175, well I have a feeling that the respective close associations with those two enshrined Flickuum movies will help both the 2018 movie and 2010 movie make The Project.
Other than a potentially successful re-assessment of “Next Day Air” and “Baggage Claim” with a 77% chance of making The Project, Lauren London’s Flickuum era is unofficially over. However, she’s too damn radiant of an actress to have just three enshrined Flickuum movies and a lot of uncertainty about having more, thus I have added “Without Remorse” to the roster. Now let’s see if that movie can extend her Flickuum era.
Every time that I go to FYE, I seem to notice some unknown yet potentially intriguing movie. Last month, it was “The Padre” and two days ago, it was “Asoka”, the latter of which reminds me of all those other ancient battle movies that I like. So, with that being said, the 2001 movie joins the continuously loaded assessment/re-assessment roster.
In searching for at least 20 movies to blog about in this 200th Flickasbord entry, I searched the movies section of iTunes for 2023 and newer movies to see if any more of them were worthy of a group that was last joined by “Good Fortune”. And as it turned out, I found seven such movies, which you can find out about via the regular-used chart format:
| Movie | Why it has been added |
| Xeno | It’s a 21st century version of “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial”. |
| Blue Moon | This movie is a nice change of pace for Ethan Hawke, as he is best known for “The Black Phone” movies these days. Plus, there’s no such thing as too much Margaret Qualley in The Project. |
| Love, Brooklyn | There’s no such thing as too much Nicole Beharie in The Project. |
| Clown In A Cornfield | Since both “Hell Of A Summer” and “Until Dawn” are getting assessed, this movie should get that same status, as all three give off vibes that are similar to one another. |
| Jane Austen Wrecked My Life | I saw the trailer for this movie when I went to go see “The Penguin Lessons”, and it stood out to me. |
| Oh, Hi! | Molly Gordon’s Flickuum stock has risen both last year and this year, thus culminating in a movie where she’s number one on the call sheet. Talk about a perfect storm for her. |
| Sorry, Baby | I just had a lackluster A24 experience with “Bring Her Back”, but I won’t let that deter me from seeing a much more pleasant movie in this one. |
Third time is the charm for a lot of things, such as “A Most Violent Year” making The Project on its third attempt. And now you can say that about a particular movie finally making the assessment/re-assessment roster, as “Woman On Top” was twice passed over. Yes, the Penelope Cruz-led movie is no longer on the outside looking in, due to her being a total smoke show in it. Now let’s see if “Woman On Top” comes out on top, from the standpoint of attempting to make The Project.
Two movies that I’ve noticed compared to one another are “Men” and “Don’t Worry Darling”, due to two specific elements that are in them. Of course, I have the former up for re-assessment, which caused me to think that the latter is probably the better movie of the two, therefore it has been added to the roster and will be assessed directly after the former’s re-assessment. Now I just need to find a time to schedule that doubleheader.
An actress that has amassed a somewhat surprisingly low amount of movies is Ali Wong, whom is the reason that I like “Always Be My Maybe”. And while I wish that her movie amount was a bit higher, that fact made it easier for me to find out the name of the Jeff Garlin-directed movie that she appeared in, which is entitled “Dealin’ With Idiots”. Of course, I don’t know how substantial that her role is in that movie, but I’ll gladly assess it before having to suffer through seeing the over-rated Blake Lively in a second re-assessment of “Savages”.
And finally, I was going to save this last-minute addition for volume 201, but a new movie involving Melissa Barrera is a perfect way to cap off this entry. You see, I noticed in the upcoming section of her IMDB page that she is filming a movie with John Travolta, entitled “Black Tides”. And while the release year is still unknown, I’ve added it to the roster beforehand, because I feel like I’ll have accessibility to that one before her other upcoming movie “The Collaboration”. Looks like another Google alert is in order.
Well, activity following the evaluation of “Anna” has been a mixed bag, as A] The Unbreakable Boy has gone back to Tier 12 and has been joined by both “The Woman In The Yard” and “Bring Her Back”, B] Babylon is hanging on by a thread in Tier 13, C] Maintenance Required is awaiting physical copy confirmation and D] A Nice Indian Boy has also gone back to Tier 12. But Tier 5 did get a new member, as “Good Fortune” passed its assessment yesterday and I’m confident that “Peter Pan Live!” will join it there tomorrow.
Until the next time.
