Flickasbord, Volume 196

I did make a vow to drastically cut back on my amount of weekly Flickasbord entries, which I’ve been up and down about since that vow went into effect on July 28 of this year. And while I was going to re-uphold that vow starting today, I figure that I might as well write this entry now since I’m confident that I can finish the remainder of my “The Man Who Knew Infinity” evaluation in a timely fashion today.

Let’s begin.

First up, a movie that I noticed The Nostalgia Critic really praising was the movie “Brazil”, which gave off a vibrant aesthetic, based on the clips that I saw of it in the past. So, given that and the fact that Robert De Niro appeared in the 1985 movie, I’ve decided to add it to the assessment/re-assessment roster.

I’ve constantly make a vow to no longer pardon any movie that’s on the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page. And while I’ll eventually no longer renege on that vow, four movies that were on that page, prior to this entry being written, really stood out to me as ones that were worthy of being re-assessed. And as to what those four movies were/are, well they were/are 1] Our Brand Is Crisis, due to Joaquim de Almeida needing more Flickuum movies, 2] Bunyan And Babe, simply because a movie where John Goodman does the voice of Paul Bunyan is totally deserving of a re-assessment, 3] The Invisible Circus, due to Christopher Eccleston having good chemistry with both Cameron Diaz and Jordana Brewster, and 4] Native Son, because it could be neck-and-neck with another Margaret Qualley movie in “Stars At Noon”. Alright, the temptation to grant any more pardons is officially out of sight and out of mind.

Watching Jeopardy! over the years, the name “Truman Capote” has come up in multiple clues, to the point that the fact that the late Philip Seymour Hoffman portraying him in a biopic is now drilled into my mind. So, given that and the fact that “Capote” is yet another big-name movie that I haven’t seen, the 2005 movie has been added to the very-loaded roster.

Sydney Sweeney’s ability to appear in movie after movie is like 2Pac working like a fucking race horse, minus her making any public mentions of death. And while she’s probably one of the seven-to-ten overly-casted actors/actresses in the current Hollywood climate, I don’t get Sydney Sweeney, whereas I get Emma Stone fatigue. So, with that being said, the now 28-year-old actress has another intriguing movie coming out towards the end of 2025, entitled “The Housemaid”. Yes, I know that Paul Feig (the movie’s director) and Brandon Skelenar (one of the other cast members) have both caught flak, due to Blakegate, but that movie is still going on the roster, due to one Sydney Sweeney being number one on the call sheet.

And finally, speaking of Emma Stone, another movie of hers will be going on the roster actually, with it being “Eddington”, due to its trailer catching my attention and it having the potential to outrank “Midsommar”, since both movies are Ari Aster movies. Now let’s see if that potential can be proven right.

Well, progress in amassing more overall guaranteed Project movies will mostly be at a standstill, due to my very mapped-out plan of completing more evaluations. But multiple designated break period times will be coming, therefore “Good Fortune” will have plenty of movies following it into Tier 5.

Until the next time.
