Flickasbord, Volume 125

When it comes to deciding about certain movies on the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page, Sydney Sweeney’s blasphemy from “Anyone But You” pops into my head, as I keep finding myself not completely done granting pardons. Let’s begin.

First up, let’s stay on the topic of those pardons, as the Christmas spirit makes me want to re-assess “Spirited”, while the way that Harrison Ford says the word “Yeah” in the 1988 movie “Frantic” is just way too unintentionally funny, thus it deserves to be a part of Flickuum lore. So, for those two reasons, along with Aimee Carrero being in the former of the two movies, I’ve decided to designate both movies as pending pardons. But this will be the last ever time that this type of action will be taken about movies on that page.Or should I say almost the last ever time, as “Spin Me Round” will also be pardon-pending, due to it possibly being neck-and-neck with “Addicted To Fresno”, while both the 2018 version of “SuperFly” and “The New Guy” will get that status as well, via the former having Antwon “Big Boi” Patton in its cast and the latter featuring Eliza Dushku in a very jump-starting montage. Alright, now it’s really the last ever time that action will be taken about movies on that page.

Next up, the quest in restoring the late Roger Moore to Flickuum lore continues, but I remain committed to that quest. So, with that being said, I stockpiled multiple movies of his to fill that void, with those movies being “A Princess For Christmas”, “Agent Crush” and “The Cannonball Run”. Yes, this is a very failsafe way to finally get at least one movie of his into The Project.

When it comes to Emma Stone, I want at least one movie of hers, in addition to “Cruella”, to compete March Madness style in a format that is going to heavily emphasize Nadine Velazquez, Melissa Barrera, Eiza Gonzalez, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen and Anna Camp, the latter of whom was her cast mate in the movie “The Help”. And with that being said, I think I found the perfect candidate for that role, with it being “Irrational Man”. Now let’s see if that movie will make up for the likely failure that is “The Favourite”.

Just a heads up, I have a mention for a new/upcoming movie in the second-to-last paragraph, as I find it easier to include new/fairly new/upcoming movies in the same paragraph. But this paragraph kind of came together during my “post-Abandoned Mine” phase, so the crowbarring in this entry is a little clunky. Regardless, I hope that you all can bear with me about this somewhat disorganized structure, as the other new/fairly new/upcoming movies can all be seen via the chart below:

MovieWhy it’s been added
The BricklayerThere’s no such as too much Nina Dobrev in The Project.
Parthenope This movie is a much more forbidden version of La Mujer De Mi Hermano, and it’s Celeste Dalla Porta’s first movie in which she has a substantial role.
Death Of A UnicornThis movie is textbook A24, it has a surrealistic approach just like “Love Lies Bleeding”, and reliable Universal Pictures R-Rated comedy veteran Paul Rudd teams up with the talented Jenna Ortega in the father and daughter roles, respectively.
FrankensteinThis movie is Oscar Isaac’s first since “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse”, and it could succeed, due to his proven track record.
HoppersA Pixar movie about “hopping” human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals? Sign me up!

The search for making sure that Alexa PenaVega has as many Flickuum movies as Camila Belle continues, as “Abandoned Mine” is very likely to be eliminated from Tier 13 contention. But of course, that search could end sooner rather than later, as “23 Blast” has been tabbed for that spot. Fingers crossed.

Auli’i Cravalho is on pace for two movies, both of which are lending her voice to the two Moana movies. And while they both will end up being Top 200-to-300 movies when The Project is all said and done, I do want to see her act in a live-action movie, thus I have decided to take a flier on “Darby And The Dead”.

After realizing how pompous that “Leaving Las Vegas” was for a third time, along with “See How They Run” getting a non-guaranteed Top-Two spot in Tier 13, “La Mujer De Mi Hermano” will be the movie that gets the spot 2,801 treatment, meaning that it will be the other gatekeeper, along with “Dream Scenario”. Plus, it could be the only shot for Barbara Mori, Christian Meier and Gaby Espino all being a part of Flickuum lore, so call this one as pre-ordained as “Saved By The Bell: Wedding In Las Vegas” getting an overall guaranteed Flickuum spot nearly 10 months before its full-on assessment.

And finally, the long arm of John Wick reached into the trailer line-up, as I was shown the trailer for “Novocaine” when I saw “The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim” two days ago. And just like with all Wickspirations, the Jack Quaid-led movie has the potential to be yet another successful one of that lot. I’ll be waiting for it during mid-March to eventually see it.

Well, I can’t say that I’m short of options in rounding out more overall guaranteed Flickuum spots, because I have a feeling that I will get more outcomes like that run of late-November to early this month than the unfulfilling six-movie stretch that started with “Abandoned Mine”, and stopped with “Speak No Evil”. But of course, that unfulfilling stretch is a somewhat of a moot point, as “Flow” passed its re-assessment, followed by the group of Flickuum inductees being extended by “Monster Trucks”. And given the run that I know that I’m more than capable of going on, three or four more inductions will occur either tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow night.

Until the next time.
