Flickasbord, Volume 103

Rounding out 2,500 of the 2,600 Flickuum spots has been an ongoing process, as I can still add a maximum of 89 Project-ready movies and/or new movies that will beat the New Year’s Day 2026 deadline to the assessment/re-assessment roster. Let’s begin.

First up, doing my second re-assessment of “Deuces Wild” brought back the memory of assessing “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, which prompted to give second looks to both that movie and its sequel “The Girl In The Spider’s Web”. So, with all of that being said, I have decided to pardon [already done] both of those American adaptations to Tier 8 for re-assessment.

Since late-2003, actresses of partial or full Latin descent have been relentlessly coming out of the woodwork to be a part of Flickuum lore, with Salma Hayek leading that charge. And of course, that has also ushered in Delilah Cotto, Natalie Martinez, Nadine Velazquez, Eiza Gonzalez, Melissa Barrera, Isabel Arraiza and Annabelle Acosta, just to name a few. And speaking of a few, another one of those actresses is Lindsey Morgan, who has a 4-1 record in movies of hers making The Project and it could be 5-1 if “Casa Vita” can be obtained via hard copy. And that’s not all when it comes the latter of those nine actresses because in addition, three more of her movies have been chosen for assessment, with them “ETXR”, “Inside Game” and “Scrambled”.

I might be in the minority here, but I didn’t like the 1994 version of “The Crow”, as A) It didn’t give me a rush of adrenaline like “John Wick” did and B) I found the delivery of dialogue to be very stilted. So, with that being said, you’ll probably find it totally unsurprising that I rolled my eyes at the trailer of the remake of “The Crow”, which stars Bill Skarsgard, and on a day that I saw another one of his movies in the bonkers fun “Boy Kills World” interestingly enough. So, given my reaction to the trailer of the remake, I decided today to place it on the Movies That Mega Tat Refuses To See page.

And finally, in another Lindsey Morgan item, I have decided to grant one last pardon from the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page via deciding (I already have) to place her movie “Summer Days, Summer Nights” in Tier 10, due to it having the potential to outrank “Staten Island Summer”, the latter of which is pending a third re-assessment. And should that movie of hers pass its re-assessment, then it’s heading to the hard copy pending protocol. Stay tuned.

Well, I still have plenty of work cut out for myself between now and New Year’s Day 2026, as there are tons of decisions to make for the 2,500 to be rounded out, especially with how overpopulated that Tier 7 is currently. Plus, it looks like that this 14-plus month paring down process will be chalked full of judgment calls, plot jots and expedited re-assessments, so get busy finalizing or get procrastinating.

Until the next time.
