Two days ago in “Minimum 144, Maximum 100!: Part One”, I did promise that I would blog about five more movies that I’m anticipating in 2024. And sure enough, I was able to find that exact amount, despite the pickings being slim. And no, Furiosa isn’t one of them nor is Dune: Part II, as A] I’m not a fan of the Mad Max franchise and B] I didn’t like Dune, despite the fact that one of my favorite actors (Oscar Isaac) was in that movie.
Alright, so unlike the blog entry “My 25 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2024”, these five movies aren’t really in any particular order, thus there will be no countdown style. However, I could integrate them with those 25 come Sunday since I’ll most likely be seeing Night Swim either this coming Monday or Tuesday.
Anyways, without any more ado, here are the five additional movies that I’m most anticipating in 2024, starting with “Love Lies Bleeding”, an intense looking movie that looks as if it’s set in the 1980s. Furthermore, it looks like a mash-up of the Ryan Gosling movie “Drive”, “Atomic Blonde” and the John Wick franchise. And given that I like all those movies, I’m pretty confident that I’ll be in for a turbo-charged good time come early-March.
Next up is a movie that I have constantly written off, only for me to find it “trexy”, which is the portmanteau of trashy and sexy. And of course, I’m talking about “Challengers”, the Zendaya-led movie that kowtowed to The Frandemic. Yes, the aspect of the two dudes desiring her character is weird yet it could be a Flickuum guilty pleasure just like the yet to be evaluated movie “The Informers”.
Third is an animated take on the Transformers franchise, as we get an origin story via “Transformers One”. Usually, I don’t like when live-action franchises go animated in one of their installments, which is what the Stuart Little franchise did with their third and final installment. However, I don’t like the Stuart Little franchise, along with the fact that this upcoming Transformers movie could put forth a good effort just like both “Bumblebee” and “Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts” did.
Fourth is a movie that multiple vloggers have heaped early buzz on, with it being “Mickey 17”, the latest directorial effort from South Korean director Bong Joon Ho. He’s hit on one of three movies for me, as I love the movie “Okja” yet didn’t care for “Parasite” nor “Snowpiercer”. But given that this movie is giving off “Bloodshot” vibes, the 2020 Academy Award winning director could hit on two of four for me.
And finally at number five is “Cabrini”, a courageous biopic which stars a fairly unknown actress named Cristiana Dell’Anna. But she’ll be a household name once this movie gets multiple eyes on it, as it looks amazing via the trailer.
Yes, there is definitely more Flickuum material here to the point that all of it could rank 22 through 26 if I integrated them into the other 25 anticipated movies, thus potentially making a Top 30 most anticipated list, especially since I’m excited to see Joker: Folie a Deux more than any of the five in this entry.
Time to prepare for the Night Swim tour date.
