I did vow to have exactly one blog entry per week on an indefinite basis, and I made good on that vow during last week and the week before last. However, I have over 120 more test runs to do with physical media items that I own and those are going to take up most of my time for the remainder of this month, thus it’s now unknown when I’ll be blogging again after today.
Let’s begin.
First up, “Transformers” was definitely what put Megan Fox on the map, but that movie wasn’t the first one in which she was high up on the call sheet. Instead, that unique feat of hers belongs to “Crimes Of Fashion”, which also ended up being Kaley Cuoco’s first “post-8 Simple Rules” movie. Of course, I do prefer the former over the latter, especially since the stock of “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” has rapidly risen, but the latter has had staying power with me (from a fanhood standpoint) since 2002, thus I have two reasons to assess that movie and that will occur as soon as the DVD of it arrives early next week.
Next up, I feel that I’ve been pretty efficient in getting installments of certain franchises removed from my watch list, with “The Land Before Time” franchise being the latest example of that. However, there are still franchises that I haven’t completed, such as the Eddie Murphy-Kyla Pratt “Dr. Dolittle” franchise. So, with that being said, the third through fifth installments of that franchise have been added to the roster, due to me wanting to see how they do with Pratt taking over for Murphy as the lead in each of them.
On occasion, I will surf various streaming apps out of complete boredom and aimlessly add something to any of my queues from time to time. And with that being said, such instances happened three specific times this summer yet none of those three movies were added to the assessment/re-assessment roster until now. And as to what those three movies were, well they were “William Tell”, “High-Rise” and “A Greyhound Of A Girl”. Here’s hoping to three more then-nomads joining a group of overall guaranteed Project movies, which now include “Weapons”, “Underdogs”, “Sketch” and “Nobody 2”.
Today and yesterday, I saw the trailer for “The Black Phone 2” two days in a row and came away thinking that its trailer was awesome, and it was so awesome that I pardoned its predecessor yesterday. Yes, the remainder of my 2025 theatrical tour is chalked full of immediate theatrical outings, and Ethan Hawke’s second go-round as The Grabber could be in those plans this October. Stay tuned.
2025 has been the year of new Anna Camp movies being accessible to assess, as I saw “Bride Hard” theatrically exactly eight weeks ago, followed by watching my rental of “Nuked” via Vudu 15 days ago. And now things are in threes for the radiant actress, as her movie “A Little Prayer” will be releasing theatrically 10 days from now. Of course, that movie could be regionally suppressed in the state that I currently reside in, thus I might have to wait for streaming to assess that one. Stay tuned.
And finally, I initially thought that the movie “Lake Placid’ looked cool when I saw its trailer as a 15-year-old back in 1999. But a killer crocodile eating an animal that was being cared by an elderly lady doesn’t sit well with me at all, therefore that movie has been added to the Movies That Mega Tat Refuses To See page.
Well, after a streak of uncertainty that was mixed with the pointless second re-assessment of “Igby Goes Down”, I’ve hit on my last three assessments, which I alluded to four paragraphs ago. And given that “Nope” is finally starting to resemble a movie that is akin to other Universal horror movies, it’s safe to assume that a fifth movie will get a 50F designation this week. Plus, here’s hoping that every new roster addition (that’s been mentioned in this entry) has the same exact outcome.
Until the next time.
