Welcome to G-Status, our usually weekly guest blogging page.
For the first time in nearly seven months, we have a guest blogger, as Season 1 guest blogger Deanna Oliver returns as Art Infliction’s first-ever multi-time My Intro To Art interviewee via her being interviewed by Steve Kaycee.
“My Intro To Art: Deanna Oliver – Part 2”
You can check out their Q&A session below.
Thank you, please enjoy and have a nice day!
Steve: A lot has changed since I interviewed you about art in 2018, including the discontinuation of your website. So, with that being said, do you mind sharing what your initial thoughts were when it was discontinued?
Deanna: Well, in 2018, I was officially deemed disabled. It had taken a long time to get my disability. I have had some sort of sickness since I was 12 and I am now almost 40. It was a challenge to keep my own website going to the caliber I wanted. It was a hard decision to shut it down, but it was causing too much anxiety for me. So, with a heavy heart, it is gone.
Steve: I’ve been a fan of your art from the day that I met you, so what were your emotions like after I floated the then-strong possibility (now reality) of you getting your own Art Infliction page in the Artists Community?
Deanna: It felt awesome, really. I mean, I don’t think my art is ever that great enough to get my own page, but I’m sure most feel this way. I am grateful that I have found a website that can help promote my art in such a way that I couldn’t before.
Steve: What’s it like having your role with Art Infliction restructured from the challenge of upkeep for your own website to being listed first on the Artists Community page with Deanna’s Art World?
Deanna: Like I said before, I was having a lot of anxiety trying to keep my website going by myself. When you first told me you would put me on your website, I knew that I finally had somewhere that I could turn to where I didn’t have to worry anymore. Then getting my own page was crazy. Now getting to being listed first?! What an honor! I didn’t even think I was that great. I just paint or do whatever, because it makes my head calm and soul feel lighter. I am thankful, though, for the recognition.
Steve: I know you said that you’re going to draw/paint various forms of art, in addition to Wonder Woman and various things from Marvel/Disney IPs (intellectual properties), so you can tell us what we should expect to see added to your page gallery?
Deanna: Yes, actually. I had gotten two inspirations lately for something completely out of my range. I have this picture of my mother and father at their wedding. So, I’m thinking portrait, black canvas, and a bit abstract. I am a little nervous, but excited. The other is something I had never thought about, but is everywhere. I was at Deseret Book, looking at the religious paintings, and wondering why I never thought of doing one. So, why not?
Steve: Any goals, in addition to showcasing your work on your page?
Deanna: There are quite a few places in town that do small art shows. I am working my way up to getting into some of those. I have plenty of art and craft to sell, in addition to my paintings, I also do wands and dreamcatchers. Art is enjoyment, it’s a way of life for me, and I can’t wait to go out there and showcase it.
