In A Pinch

Steve Kaycee has been on a tear (especially in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026) with writing multiple blog entries in a single week and doing so for multiple weeks.

However, he has grown tired of constantly converting fairly new blog entries into non-menu website pages, as he feels that A] Doing so doesn’t give such blog entries the proper exposure that they deserve and B] The constant impromptu pre-writes take their toll on him more and more.

But luckily, the impromptu pre-writes have (and will continue) to dwindle, as will the early non-menu website page conversions. And of course, with the latter being said, this page comes into play once again, as Steve Kaycee has a blog entry that he wrote on February 11, with it being about four movies that he exempted from the Movies That Mega Tat Refuses To See page.

You can see it below.

“Flickasbord, Volume 218”

218. That’s the date in which I ended a toxic friendship almost 13 years ago. 218. That could be the date that I see “Wuthering Heights” theatrically in 2026. 218. The 218th Flickasbord volume and there’s a crop of new assessment/re-assessment roster additions, and I’m giddy just thinking about it.

Let’s begin.

First up, sometime this most recent November, I noticed a cardboard poster  that was mostly blue and had a fish on/within it. Of course, I didn’t think much of it at that time, as many Art Infliction assignments were on my docket. But noticing it last month on the Fandango website gave it staying power in my mind, as I found all of that blue to very vibrant. This then caused me to look and see what its title was. The answer? The Pout-Pout Fish, which has Nick Offerman in a voice role and conjured up memories of “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken”. So, with both of those things being said, it’s going to be a part of my 2026 theatrical tour. Now I just need to find out if it will be playing theatrically in my area or not.

I’m all done pardoning movies from the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page, but I’m not quite done yet with granting exemptions, as A] Yet another Tier 12 movie has earned another shot, and B] Four movies on the Movies That Mega Tat Refuses To See page each gained the rarity of being added to the roster after all. And as to what those five overall movies are, well you can find out via the first of two charts in this entry. Chart #1 is below:

MovieWhy it’s an exemption
Lake PlacidFrom what I had recently read about the cow’s demise in the 1999 movie, I’m actually not quite that bothered about it now, especially since I’ll see either equally or more gruesome aesthetics in both “Pearl” and “X”.
Deep Blue Sea 2This movie’s predecessor (also released in 1999) was pardoned last week, thus it is exempt for franchise continuity purposes.
Deep Blue Sea 3This movie is also exempt for franchise continuity purposes. Plus, it features Tania Raymonde.
F Marry KillThe pacing of this movie is very uneven as it goes on, but there are far too many memorable characters in it to warrant an indefinite waiting period.
Win, Lose Or LoveI found out that this movie is a part of a free trial for an Amazon channel subscription, thus it’s accessible to assess. Plus, it has Nadine Velazquez.

One thing that I rely on more and more these days is the screenshot feature on my iPhone, as it helps me remember things that I want to turn my attention to almost immediately, i.e. movies for entries like this one. And of course, with that being said, I did indeed take screenshots as reminders for this entry, with the first one being “Two Worlds, One Wish”, as the actress in the poster reminded/reminds me of Sofia Carson. And as to the second movie, well that one is “A Far Off Place”, due to it reminding me of the movie “Cheetah” a.k.a. evaluation number 651. Yes, two movies amassed via the feature of screenshot will eventually get their shot at joining the group of movies that was first started by “Wildcats”, and last extended by “Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse”.

Surf’s up isn’t just a movie title nor a phrase that is said by anyone riding a surfboard, because in addition to those definitions, it’s also a term that I use every time that I surf streaming apps during a boring movie, or every time that I need to keep myself busy during laundry cycles. So, with that being said, I caught some potential Flickuum waves via almost two weeks worth of app-surfing and this is what I came up with:

MovieWhy it will be assessed
The Free WorldI like the redemption arc that pertains to Boyd Holbrook’s character. Plus, it reminds me of “Battlecreek”.
Red CowThe Flickuum has two movies with “Cow” in their respective titles and they’re both enshrined. This movie has a nothing but The Flickuum vibe about it, thus it could be the third such movie in The Project.
WolfwalkersThe fact that this movie reminds me of the now exempted “The Greyhound Girl” makes me want to assess it.
Under The Stadium LightsThis movie jumped out at me via surfing the Paramount+ app.
The MintThis movie had me at Kristinia DeBarge.
TwistedDjimon Hounsou exploring new territory in his career via this movie makes it worthy of an assessment.
Lee Cronin’s The MummyBlumhouse exploring new territory via a mummy movie? Sign me up!
Monster SummerI forgot to mention that the fourth movie in this chart features Milo Gibson, whom is the son of Mel Gibson, thus giving me the idea to add this movie to the roster. Plus, it has “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” vibes about it.

And finally, props to Jameela Jamil for having a video in which she goes scorched Earth on Blake Lively. And if you don’t know what video that I’m alluding to, well go search the YouTube channel “Popcorned Planet” to watch it. Anyways, not only is Jameela Jamil badass for putting the fraudulent American sweetheart on blast, because in addition, she’s hot and I want to see a live-action movie of hers. So, with that being said, I looked up her filmography on IMDB and found such a movie in “How To Build A Girl”. Granted, she’s buried on the call sheet, but I made a point of learning her character’s name beforehand, so that I don’t put myself in a “blink and I miss” position whenever she does show up in the Beanie Feldstein-led movie.

Well, I’m being more strategic in how I deem what is Flickuum-bound, as the fringe Flickuum movies keep coming out of the woodwork, and are doing so via the amount of Tier 13 retreads that are still up for re-assessment. And while the amount of completed assessments/re-assessments has slowed down dramatically since the first day of 2026, I’m ready for a major completion heater between now and midnight Friday, especially since the names Natalie Martinez, Eiza Gonzalez and Nadine Velazquez will all be a part of it. Plus, I’m one step closer in ending at least one moratorium, as “Trial By Fire” passed its assessment, thus making it the ninth movie to be placed in Tiers 7 and 14.

Until the next time.
