On August 11, 2023, 16 upcoming 2023 movies were on my list of movies that I had intended to see theatrically yet any of them could have been (or still could be) threatened by The Frandemic. And of those 16, five of them were released on their scheduled United States wide release dates, thus I was able to see all of them. So, with the second sentence being said, why am I writing about those remaining 11 movies when I don’t have such an entry due until next Friday?
Well, after convincing myself that The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes is the prequel of a franchise that A] I don’t like at all, along with the additional facts that B] My November could be jam-packed with possibly four other theatrically-released movies, and C] I don’t want to spend 165 minutes in an auditorium watching something that I know won’t make the Catch-22 Hundred Project, I have decided to scrap that movie from my 2023 theatrical tour. And of course, with all of that being said, I have decided to put one of my Frandemic fallback options in that movie’s place.
Or should I say that I have decided to put two of those fallback options in that movie’s place via a choice route kind of way, meaning that I’ll either select a good one if any two of the movies that are predicted to clinch Top 8 spots in Tier 12 fail their assessments/re-assessments or select a bad one if at least any two of Bottoms, Tower Of Terror, Tracers, The Biscuit Eater, Home ’21, Mending The Line, Werewolves Within, Aftershock and Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins pass their assessments/re-assessments. And of course, with all of that being said, the question is which movie will be my good fallback option and which movie will be my bad fallback option?
Well, given its sweet nature, I’m going to pick Champions as the good fallback option. But should Tier 12 have a strong field come next Thursday, then From Black will be the bad fallback option, as it could either rank lower than 5000 Blankets on the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page or vie for a One Hun-Dread spot on the Wonka In Reverse page. Regardless, the battle royal that is the January 1, 2024 deadline continues.
