For about six years, I’ve been refining the sports roster selection aspect of The Flickuum Project, first by making it an NFL roster-building format and then a Major League roster-building format. But after finding roster building (of all four major professional sports leagues) to be very cool, I ultimately decided to use the roster-building format of all four major professional sports leagues for 116 of the next 123 Flickuum spots. And of course, with that being said, I started with NHL roster-building format first, as I wanted to start with a format that I wasn’t entirely sure about, from the standpoint of how many exact players are on an active NHL roster. But of course, I eventually found that out via a Google search, with the answer being 23. And speaking of 23, that’s how many movies that got official overall guaranteed Flickuum spots 2,078 through 2,100 and they can be seen via the typical chart below format.
*Denotes movie that moved to Tier 4 already
Movie | How it got an overall guaranteed Flickuum spot |
Chevalier | It wasn’t hard copy confirmed until July 30, 2023, so it had 16 movies compete for its Tier 12 spot, which eventually went to Network. This was then followed by Network moving to Tier 12, The Black Demon taking Network’s place on the now discontinued Already Assessed & Re-Assessed Vs. Rookie Scale page, and this movie being the first building block of the Walrus 23 page. |
Wayne’s World | It was handpicked to fill the vacated Flickuum spot of Fear ’23, as the latter failed its assessment. |
Wayne’s World 2 | It was handpicked to fill the vacated Flickuum spot of Beau Is Afraid, as the latter failed its assessment. |
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One | It was selected as a then-new movie with a reserved roster spot, which was eventually earned with a successful assessment. |
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. | See one spot above. |
Barbie | See two spots above. |
Haunted Mansion | See three spots above. |
Jump Tomorrow | It won the White Men Can’t Jump ’23 Spot-Fill Tournament, although the latter of the two movies has since had its stock rise, therefore it’s one of the then-new/fairly new movies that will be among the next 100 to make Tier 5. |
Addicted To Fresno* | It won the Talk To Me ’23 Spot-Fill Tournament. |
Kandahar | It won the Consecration Spot-Fill Tournament after it faced long odds of getting a 2,048 through 2,070 spot. |
Joy Ride | It won the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Spot-Fill Tournament after it faced long odds of getting a 2,048 through 2,070 spot. |
A Night At The Roxbury | It won the Marlowe Spot-Fill Tournament. |
The Frisco Kid | It won the Fool’s Paradise Spot-Fill Tournament. |
Horizon Line | It won The Machine Spot-Fill Tournament. |

Spirit Untamed | It won The Flash Spot-Fill Tournament. |

Well, that’s the first (of four) sports style assembled roster of now overall guaranteed Flickuum movies and it’s surely one uniquely special group of movies. And not only is it a uniquely special group of movies because in addition, it’s a group of movies that will be involved in many epic March Madness style tournaments for fully guaranteed Flickuum spots.
Tune in on Thursday a.k.a. Leap Day to find out which seven movies get selected as the seven that will be exempt from roster style selection.
