Steve: Do you have tattoos?
Jessica: Yep, somewhere in the neighborhood of 12.
Steve: What are your tattoos of?
Jessica: Mermaid, ship in a bottle, octopus with a dive helmet, whale, shark, zombie, pineapple grenade, sparrows, cherries, horseshoe with roses, ghost, candy corn, bats, skull with wings with a quote in the cross bones that says “Live with no excuses die with no regrets”, a quote that says “Death is more universal than life, everyone dies but not everyone lives”, an umbrella with rain underneath, and an antique that says “No love found.”
Steve: Which tattoo hurt the most?
Jessica: That’s a tough call, but probably the skull with wings, which is on my chest.
Steve: What made you want to get tattoos?
Jessica: Ever since I was little, I was intrigued by them. I always admired people that weren’t afraid to be different. And then when I was 20, I saw something that nobody should have to see and that was seeing a week-old baby die. It made me realize that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and if there’s something that you want to do, then you better go ahead and do it.
Steve: Any advice for people looking to get their first tattoo?
Jessica: I would recommend checking out a few different shops if you don’t already have one in mind. Make sure that you like their previous work, and that the shop practices proper sterilization.
Steve: Do you plan to get more tattoos?
Jessica: Absolutely!
