Just when you think that the current movie assessment/re-assessment roster starts to ease up a little bit more, the idea of 14 possibly new assessments being added to said roster springs up and it springs up pretty much out of nowhere. And once you add that to A) 41 movies that are all in line to get most of the 56 revoked tentative guaranteed Two ThouCentennial spots, B) 35 Tier 12 movies not named Saved By The Bell: Wedding In Las Vegas seriously vying for both the remaining 15 of those spots, and 22 of 23 pending revoked tentative guaranteed Two ThouCentennial spots and C) The aforementioned Saved By The Bell: Wedding In Las Vegas most likely getting a tentative guaranteed Two ThouCentennial spot even before its full-on assessment, well then you will get a battle for 79 projected spots that will yet again be a little too over populated.
However, the idea isn’t set in stone, due mostly to assessment/re-assessment scheduling between now and October 7, 2022. But if movies that are set to be scheduled for assessment/re-assessment keep getting knocked off the list at its current pace, then these 14 movies will get worked into the schedule. And should that be the case, well then you can find out which 14 movies could be added to the schedule via the chart below:
Movie | Why it’s being considered | Chances of getting one of the projected 79 opens spots |
Beast | This movie is a 21st century version of The Ghost And The Darkness, the latter of which is an enshrined Two ThouCentennial movie. Plus, it’s yet another chance for Idris Elba to make up for the disappointment that was Beasts Of No Nation. | If this movie lives up to the comparisons to The Ghost And The Darkness from beginning to end, then it will be anywhere from the seventh to fourteenth successful assessment of a 2022 movie. |
Broken Diamonds | Ben Platt had his movie “Run This Town” assessed one day before the very first jot down session of Saved By The Bell. So given that and the presence of Lola Kirke, this movie could be assessed much sooner (later this month) than expected. | Based on its preview, it has the potential to make the Project. And should it live up to that potential, then it will be in Conference 23 when Saved By The Bell: Wedding In Las Vegas joins that conference. |
Starship Troopers 2: Hero Of The Federation | It’s about seeing a franchise in its entirety, as this movie’s predecessor is a Tier 4 movie. | Franchise installments usually stick together in the Project, with the 1989 through 1997 Batman movies and the 2005 through 2012 Batman movies being two clear-cut examples of that. But for every one of those franchises and such connectivity, there’s The Fast And The Furious franchise, where only one such installment (the first one) is and always will be the sole installment in the Two ThouCentennial rankings. Stay tuned. |
Starship Troopers 3: Marauder | See one spot above. | See one spot above. |
Starship Troopers: Invasion | See two spots above. | See two spots above. |
Starship Troopers: Traitor Of Mars | See three spots above. | See three spots above. |
The Marksman | Longtime Clint Eastwood directing assistant Robert Lorenz could finally have a movie in which he directed make the Project. Plus, Teresa Ruiz needs a movie of hers to have a chance to make the Project. | A Walk Among The Tombstones (a Liam Neeson movie that this Liam Neeson movie is being compared to) exceeded expectations in making the Project, so such movies could double down in making it. |
Kalamity | This movie was considered for assessment back in late-April. | Beau Garrett could have two, three or four movies of hers in the Project. But given that two of them (Tron: Legacy, Turistas) are on the outside looking in, it only makes sense to have realistic expectations about this one. |
Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves | This movie was considered for assessment in early-January 2021. | It can either have a third successful installment like most trilogies (Pitch Perfect, How To Train Your Dragon, Harold & Kumar, The Hangover, Rush Hour, Free Willy) or have a failed third installment (Major League). Given the success of its two predecessors, it’s more likely that they will combine to be like those aforementioned six successful trilogies. |
Lamb | That foggy Scandinavian production value has recently been a favorite in the Project, as such a movie in The Northman recently made it. | This movie can either succeed like The Northman did or fail like The Snowman did. Stay tuned. |
Step Up 3 | It’s about seeing a franchise in its entirety, as this movie’s first predecessor is an enshrined Two ThouCentennial movie, while its second predecessors is a Tier 4 movie. | See eight spots above. |
Step Up: Revolution | See one spot above. | See nine spots above. |
Step Up: All In | See two spots above. | See ten spots above. |
Ron’s Gone Wrong | This movie has slipped through the cracks long enough, so it’s high time for that to change. | Zach Galifianakis is 2-for-2 in having computer animated movies of his make the Project. So given that track record, this movie could make it 3-for-3. |
Well, there you have it. The fourteen movies, headlined by Beast, that could be up for assessment before October 7, 2022. And should the finishing of assessments/re-assessments continue at its current pace, well then they will make the schedule, prior to October 7, 2022. And should a few of those 35 Tier 12 movies fail their assessments in any way, shape or form, then that opens the door for the 14 movies mentioned in the chart above to get tentative guaranteed Two ThouCentennial spots. Plus, three more movies will or could also get their tentative guaranteed Two ThouCentennial spots revoked, as Den Of Thieves will eventually be re-added to the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page, followed by both Fantastic Beasts movies (1 & 2) possibly being added to that page, on the basis that they have both been perceived recently as unnecessary prequels to the Harry Potter franchise. But of course, a lot will depend on how fast that this schedule will move, along with how Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore will fare in its assessment, as that could be the domino that determines possibly two more revoked tentative guaranteed Two ThouCentennial spots.
Tune into either The Bonus Round page or Miscellaneous page this coming Monday to see what decision will be reached about the 14 movies listed in the chart above.
